the bluest eye

the bluest eye

i have been tagged to link back to five of my previous posts that relate to the following topics: (of course, i had to go and make things difficult by not being able to choose between the two favorites of each.)

your love: my idea of home shares the history and captain & chenille was a visual sigh.

friend: this twenty years ago today post is still true. he really was my best friend. this is what i am gonna miss was a heartpull when sage was off to college.

yourself: those ers, girlicious booty queen and the inking man were my favorites.

family: it was a tossup between sleeping minimen and unstolen identity.

a post i like: last february, i remember the relief when he decided that we weren't moving in noble work of birds and the clarity in this homage to a soulsister in weight & freedom, less than two months later. reading these makes me so grateful that we don't know what tomorrow brings.

as i took some time to reread some of my journal's posts, i realized the magnitude of change that has happened in less than a year. it almost seems surreal and it makes me appreciate the gift of journaling. you can stare at things from a different angle and take a good look at yourself then, decide who you will be today and where you want to be tomorrow.

if you get a chance, reread your blog, journal, or even a scribbled dayplanner. you might be struck by where you were just a year ago. maybe, you can laugh when you couldn't before or not cry when you couldn't stop the tears. hopefully, your mind is more open and your heart is fuller.

tag yourself and start the staredown.

You were tough as nails then and the most beautiful bride ever. It was a joyous day at Aquarena Springs. Even my Daddy was there - if I recall. Do you? You are even tougher and more beautiful now.

The inking man is one of my most favorite posts ever. There was also one about a blooming cactus that I loved.

I'm struck by how much V looks like you in your wedding photo.

There's something about you that hasn't changed in those 20 years. Your smile that wedding day and the one on your blog are the same. There's such hope in your eyes.

Love the way you step fearlessly into the light of introspection. Not many of us could handle the self-scrutiny and awareness.

I'm hoping some of that rubs off on me!

Hugs

Dear Dawn,

You've been on my mind, or more precisely, your words have. And what beautiful words they were. Every little thing is gonna be all right. Thank you. Mwa, mwa mwa, big noisy kisses and a much more sincere big hug to you sister.

Miss Purdue.

For some reason I don't like to go back and read my old blog posts. Maybe someday I will...

I love your posts, old and new. I have a tendency to stay away from my old blog posts. I prefer to just look forward at this point in my life.

Your kitty has the truest blue eyes.

I only wish I had found your blog sooner. No wonder you couldn't choose just one and what a beautiful bride and groom. Your words are so beautifully spoken. I appreciate your honesty. Have a wonderful day!

You're right, this was a good exercise. I'd never gone back and read all my blog posts, either...

The posts you picked are all moving and real--thanks so much for sharing so much of yourself--
