hardware restoration

doorknob

when i bought this old house, it did have a front doorknob. it was there until moving day when my beautiful boothe went through with a big box. while life got in the way, we have used it with a broken off knob up until this weekend. my sister taught me how to take off door knobs and put them back on. now, that is power.

my class started on monday. you sometimes don't know what to expect of yourself until you are expected. it is really a great class and my students rock. i am extremely excited about summer sessions and showing up with a smile.

i watched a movie on monday night which has stayed with me since then. last chance harvey is one of the sweetest films that i have seen in a long time. it didn't need subtitles. i knew its language.

I'm hanging on to the glass doorknobs I have here for dear life. As they break and fall off, into a drawer they go - one day, they're going to be something artsy.

But I'm glad you kept yours on the front door. It looks perfect.

I'm not sure I understood what you were doing with your class - I thought you were taking classes, but it sounds like you're teaching them? Either way, have fun, sweetie!

Love the patina of your glass doorknob, Dawn. I bought some Irish glass knobs some years ago and still haven't quite found a way to use them. But I can't give them up!

Love the coolio doorknob. Perfectly vintage. We really enjoyed Last Chance Harvey as well. Sweet and a little quirky.

Don't laugh, but one of my favorite things to do is go through old - fashioned hardware stores. I love that old stuff!

It's good to be able to do all that repairy stuff, isn't it? Last time I did a door knob though, I had some left over pieces.....
