the hand of a cloud

primed canvas, pushed paint
with a son without the sun
few and far between

what this photo doesn't show is the frustration that he felt due to his painting not coming out how he saw it in his mind's eye. it was hard not to laugh in silent understanding. he has the mind of a designer, but the soul of a painter...the war of worlds.

one of my biggest motherworries over the past year had been the lack of the process of art in his life. he has found it again and is learning to be patient with a fleeting cloud.

An Unsaid Word

She who has power to call her man
From that estranged intensity
Where his mind forages alone,
Yet keeps her pace and leaves him free,
And when his thoughts to her return
Stands where he left her, still his own,
Knows this the hardest thing to learn.

I am glad he is making art again, glad for you too. I know how frustrating it is as a mum to have an artistic talented son who doesn't make his art. My son has a natural talent for drawing and he isn't making art, it makes me very sad. I wish I could draw, I want to draw, I would give anything to be able to.

That's a great picture Dawn, there is so much in it.

Have a great day!

Sometimes it all unfolds in its own good time. I know it did with me. That's a powerful photo, and a powerful poem. xox

I'm glad you had a creative day together, even if his painting didn't turn out the way he wanted. There are ups and downs, ebbs and flows in creativity. I love the poem, hope he knows how lucky he is in the girlfriend AND the mama.
