eggs

my first eggs

today is one of those days that it is cardinal sin to be inside. we are supposed to hit eighty degrees and popsicles just might be in order on the way back from the river this afternoon.

i went out to clean the chicken coop out and couldn't help from squealing about my first eggs. obviously, my barred rocks laid them since the araucanas lay colored eggs. i finished cleaning out their coop and kissed all of their little heads.

after the trek to the river, i will prepare babygirl the finest omelet ever.

Oh, YAY! Those girls are terrific! Enjoy your first homegrown omelet, sweetie!
XOXO
(psst - 75 degrees here, and it was AWESOME; I stood outside a t-building today in the sun doing some computer work, propped on a railing - thought about actually stretching out on the ground like some ol' horse, and soaking in all that sunshine...then the security guard came outside ROFL!)

Those eggs are so healthy looking! We hit a balmy 42 degrees today. Tomorrow should be about 48 and then it is supposed to get cold again.

Those are beautiful...but before you give your barred rocks all the credit...I have an araucana that lays pink eggs that look a lot like that one in the center. How many chickens do you have? They lay one egg a day, so that can help you figure out if everyone is laying yet or not. I have 4 araucanas (well, they aren't true araucanas...those are very rare...I call mine Easter Eggers) and from them I get an olive green egg, a torquoise egg, a pale green egg and a pink egg. I love those chickens and their eggs are so delish and so beautiful. I can't wait to see what colors yours lay !!

I'm so excited for you sweetie. We absolutely love our fresh eggs! It was so warm here today (47°)so we cleaned the coops!

XOXOXOX

I'm lovin' those temps. in the 70's and 80's, too. What a treat!!!

Between our mild temps., and those fresh eggs, I'm feeling that Spring is in the air.

Congratulations on your first eggs. We hit -16 C here so I am staying inside and making soup.

btw - every time you mention the river, I remember when we floated it, a couple of years ago - and I picture it in my mind...so thanks!
