taking 'before' photos really reminds you of where you started when you are too tired to remember. it is always worth running in to get the camera. this photo was taken in june when the kids and i arrived.
after a lot of of those previously mentioned gotta get that done!s and many mornings in communion with the shovel, it looks like this.
there were loads of rock and old brick that had been dug up in years past and brick patios that had been weeded over. i repurposed all of the rock and the brick around the property and weeded out the brick patios. i guess i could have repaved them, but i wanted to honor the efforts of the past. the concretebordered flower beds are around the entire property. i love those and will keep weeding them out slowly. so far, i have spread 24 yards of riverrock and still have another 10 to do, i bet. there is still the entire side yard to garden & landscape in the next year, but you can get the feel of this old house now.

It's a very cool thing to find the efforts of others aready, somewhat in place and build on that. Looks good dear!
I can't believe all that you've gotten accomplished! I love how you're excavating the flowerbed - they look all but submerged in that first photo.
It looks great - I can't believe you've already done all of that. At my speed it would take me 2 years to do what you've done in one summer, WHILE doing a million other things.
It looks beautiful though - all of it.
Miss you -

WOW - looks great! You are the most energetic woman I know!
You've been working your butt off! That patio looks amazing. Did you get rid of that tree?
Also, it's crazy cool that you're keeping chicks in your house. :O Those things look adorable!
You are amazing.
And...I see roses blooming back there already. That brings tears to my eyes.
Go girl.
XOXO
Wow, that looks beautiful.
I love to see before and after pix. They are so telling! And this one tells us that you've been working your butt off, little one!!
I just love the feel of your place. It's so homey and established looking, if you know what I mean. Looks like a great place to call home!
XOXOXOX
i can't see the photos, as they are currently unavailable... i'll try again tomorrow! i'd love to see what you've been doing with your new home.
I always forget to take the before pics! What a stunning transformation! Looks like a perfect spot for a book and a glass of wine!
Awesome job Ms D! Love what you have done and see you have added some chick to the mix. A friend had a movable chicken condo for her birds. Mainly to protect them from the neighborhood cats. :)
Honoring the past and moving forward, the best way to go. How exciting and wonderful for you! :) It looks great.
You've done a lot of 'after' and it's looking great. I can't wait to see it all come spring. Bring it on!
i love it! and you'll have plenty of pretty weather to enjoy what you worked so hard for in the coming months!
Your yard looks wonderful -- peaceful. I should have taken before pics of mine. It's still awful -- but not AS awful. I didn't do one thing on my new house all summer. I'm not sure what I did all summer, but I go back into the classroom on Tuesday. Oh well, I have the rest of my life to paint my house -- gotta enjoy life while I'm young and spry.....
Lotsa work, but so worth it!
Okay, so where'd you move to?
Oh yeah!
I tagged you over on my blog.
