the light at the top of the steps

after working constantly on the unpacking of truck #1's boxes, i am seeing the light at the top of the steps. there is probably ten more big boxes to unpack and put away before monday's truck #2. this move has kicked my ass and took my name.

i had been meaning to take a photo of my back steps. when i first saw this house, i fell in love with these steps and the portico. with the last hackberry removed as of monday, the simple structure of this bungalow has really popped.

even with another truckload in my hands, i am so ready to get my garden jumpin'. like with our old house, i am starting with a clean slate. this house has the original concretebordered garden beds in place but nothing in them except weeds. each morning, i have tried to weed for thirty minutes while i have my coffee before the day begins.

i think this little home & garden will enjoy coming back to life.
we can do it together.

What a funny coincidence. I just posted this morning about letting weeds get too far ahead in my garden and having to catch up a little at a time. So I feel your weedy pain, girl.

I love that light fixture.

I do love to restore. It's fun to peel away the layers of neglect and find ways to enhance what was originally there.

I can picture you sitting on those steps in the morning, having a cuppa.

At two truck loads of boxes, you may have just surpassed what damage even Clarke and I can do in a move. And let me tell you, packrat man can do some damage. He still has plastic flowers that his grandma put on the graves on memeorial day.

Good lord girl, keep your chin up and keep working away at it.

I love your steps. They look homey. Your house IS coming alive, and with all the dawn&vv personality it can hold. Good for your house.

I'm sure you can't wait to have everything put away so you can get to work on the things you love. You're almost there. I hope to follow you in pictures and words.

My move kicked my ass. I wish that I could be there to help you. Don't worry -- you're almost to the top of the stairs! Pretty soon, you'll be running towards the garden -- and it's downhill from there!
