mi tierra

mi tierra bakery

you could put rock of love 2, real housewives, rob & big and tila tequila2 all on one night and still the lineup would pale in comparison to this sight at mi tierra.

my aunt annie (with her alligator. a, A, a!) was in san antonio this weekend for a retreat and turned around & treated us to lunch on sunday. we had never been to mi tierra. omG. it was so wonderful.
if you like to read about food as much as i do, read the descriptions of the dulces and panaderia.

aguas frescas

market square

this is market square. aunt annie needed a new dress and this was the place to find it. i had to get some of the punched banners, simply because they match my bordello pink wall. the kids had a blast and the alameda's museum shop was open. it has a recreated botanica in there and great shop items. b bought another religious candle and v bought some funky saintilicious bracelets... we definitely need to go back because i need the statuette of st. francis for my shrine.

Hey D!

That is my absolute fav. place and a must do when I come to S.A. I cannot believe it was your first time and am certain it won't be your last. The owner of the restaurant was Prez. of the Rest. Association when I worked for TRA in Austin and I even did some training classes for their staff years ago. Oh I long for that food here. Sorry Colorado but you don't have a chance to come close to Mi Tierra's. Now I am hungry for those cinammon cookies and some real tex mex.

Oooh, I'd like to see those punched banners up close - they look great, like modern doilies.

i've been to s.a. plenty of times and never stepped foot in market square. it seems really fun!

i'd love a statue of st.francis too... my mom used to have one in the backyard.
i went to his birthplace in assisi several summers ago. it's a beautiful, beautiful village...

Lucked out and spent the afternoon at the market while serving jury duty a month before we moved. Bought a cool shirt and lunch at mi tierra. I brought back may wonderful memories of our time in SA.

Oh man, I wanna go shoppin' with yalz. I love that market - that was my favorite part of SAT. And showing me mexican pastries, that is just cruel. I love your bordello pink wall - I think the banners would like awesome against that.
