make like margarine and melt

we reached 102 today. i even made chicken curry in the crockpot so i wouldn't heat up the kitchen... but i am so making these when it finally cools down in, um, december. i don't do margarine though and will substitute butter.

Hot Cheese Cookies
Adapted from the Flavors cookbook from the Junior League of San Antonio, Mrs. Hall Street Hammond (Patricia Wilcox)

2 sticks margarine, softened
1 pound extra sharp Cracker Barrel Cheese, grated
1 cup nuts, (sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, poppy seeds, pepitas, sesame seeds, or any combination)
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
Shake of Romano or Parmesan cheese
Dash of Garlic Salt, optional
¼ - ½ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1 heaping teaspoon paprika
1 heaping teaspoon dried parsley
1 egg

Mix ingredients by hand or with mixer. Dough will be very stiff. Roll into 4 thin logs in waxed paper. Chill or freeze. When ready to use, slice into thin rounds and place on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10 – 12 minutes or until golden brown.
