fortune best be the gospel

a fortune as the gospel

during this summer's move, the studio was the dumping ground. somehow, i felt that i had to concentrate on making the rest of the house normal and liveable for the kids first and deal with that disasterzone later.

well, later came yesterday. once i figured out how to climb into the room, i wanted to start filing and putting stuff away. i started with the filing and couldn't get one of the filecabinets opened. none of the drawers would budge and i finally pried one opened and couldn't get the drawer back on the tracks, then i would get it in and it would get locked again. mechanical stuff is beyond me and i get so frustrated, like sweatyirishsailorgirl frustrated. imagine that irish sailor girl with no one to be scarred by the verbage and antics and you had me. it was so bad that eventually heavyyogabreathing came to mind and i climbed back out of the studio and did that lamaze breathing that didn't help in the first place and i went back in.

after about an hour and a half, i finally got it fixed and the most amazing thing happened. i cleaned out the drawers and was about to start reloading them and a fortune was sitting there waiting for me. i picked it up and started laughing which dissipated the previous hours of frustration.

this little fortune transformed my day and it had best be the gospel.

Since my daughter and her family moved in I've had to move my craft room to the dining room but because it's not a 'craft' room where I can fill shelves and bins, everything just gets thrown in there, on the table, etc. I actually just posted a picture of the wreck that it is. I know I have to tackle it. My son starts school next week, and my daughter is house hunting, so the project has to begin soon.

I hope I find a beautiful reward too! Such a sweet thing you found. :)

Can I say ~ I can relate ~ to the drawer thang! Deep breathing can help, and then maybe it can't. Glad you got a chuckle out of it anyway~you probably need it by now!

Hey Dawn...have you ever read "Still Life with Chickens: Starting Over in a House by the Sea" by Catherine Goldhammer?

It's about a woman who, after her marriage breaks up, moves from her previous life into a little cottage by the sea. She uses the promist of getting chickens to bribe her 12 yr old daughter into moving away from her school, friends, fancy house.

I'm just starting it but it's very good so far and I think you'd love it!

Let me know!!!
