i am currently reading a book that gives credit to the flower as being the first object that had no utilitarian purpose BUT awakened a "perceiving consciousness" in human beings. Inspiring Jesus to teach us to contemplate the flowers and learn from them how to live - as well as Buddha claiming the origin of Zen came from the simple response of a smiling realization of beauty.
seriously? cactus blooms are unexpectedly gorgeous in the midst of prickly spines. beautiful photo... happy, happy birthday! i'm glad you had a wonderful day. mojitos are perfect for such celebrations!
