some tea with that sugar?

julia

Have you done anything with the fountain? If so, please show!
linda, i haven't done anything with it...yet. i have it by my backdoor with a cluttering of succulents on it.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

if it could be with anyone, it would be with my three children and my maternal grandmother, julia vaughn posey. she passed away a few months before i got married, so they never had the chance to soak her up and leave her embrace, smelling like emeraude.

my grandmother was the most influential person in my life. she and my grandfather (who was a county commissioner) owned a renthouse (which had originally been a funeral home) in my hometown of san marcos. they occupied the bottom floor and rented the top floor & the side apartments out to college students. i rented one when i was getting my bfa. she also supplemented their income with her oil paintings and did the artshow circuit. when my mother was younger, she also ran a tea room in the bottom floor of their home for college professors & townfolk to have lunch each day.

she shook her moneymaker and worked with what God gave her...and she encompassed her seven grandchildren into her life without ever making us feel like we were a burden. we grew up feeling that we were blessings, and loved little blessings at that.

i just wish my kids had the opportunity to have hung out with her on her porch swing with a glass of her iced tea with their sugar.

She's just gorgeous, Dawn. And I can see a bit of her in you - actually a big bit.

I can see that beautiful, soulful eyes are handed down from generation to generation from looking at pics of Grandmother Julia, you and V!

Also, a loving and giving spirit.

Dear Dawn,

I feel pretty darn lucky that I was able to know you then! And to also know your beautiful Grandma Posey. I have fond memories of hanging out in your side apartment on San Antonio Street and remember how cool you had the place fixed up. It was the best of times with you and your black cat Jezzabell. Remember how she did not approve of all the girls that came knocking to see Vinnie and Dave upstairs. Grandma Posey was old fashioned and a classic....I wish she could see you now and meet your wonderful children! Love, JFAP

Your grandma was a KNOCKOUT! That photo is beautiful, I hope you have it framed and hanging somewhere in your home - that is art. So that's where you get it from, huh? I'm so glad you have good grandma memories to look back on.
