kickin' it old wool

kickin' it old wool

these are the kind of days that make me grateful that i have saved vintage blankets, coats, quilts and anything warm at thrift stores. this is the kind of weekend why i collect warmth. my name is officially 'warmsy: the patron saint of castoff warmth'. it has a certain ring to it, doesn't it?

i came into my bedroom to grab something and saw a crested wave of wool on my bed and had to capture this. i thrifted this vintage wool indian blanket for four dollars and i am so thankful for it on these winter days & nights.

yesterday was cold, but it worked out since we were gone from 9 am until 4:30 pm... basketball game, volunteer at the concession stand, hightail it home to change into ballet garb and dash out the door until home sweet home again...then, off to wear out lucy mae & a womanchild who must have invented red bull. seriously.

the man of the house started his new job after school this week...so i hope that he gets a break on this long weekend and hopefully i get a break from the getting & going around here...but i am extremely proud of b. he left last saturday morning on foot with a 'mom, i am going to go and get myself a job' and called me with the news that he got it on the spot.

so, cozy on down & kick it old wool with me.

I wish I was a thriftspirit such as you...but my $5 fuzzy wrap on the clearance table at Old Navy does a pretty dang good job...

Congrats to B, and wish S luck - she's picked up a few apps herself, Subway and the local grocery store...

It looks like a Hudson's Bay blanket! Canadian, eh!

When I'm rich, I'll send you a coat made out of that same blankie from Hudson's Bay dept. store right here in town.
