evel knievel

my sister macy called me last night with the news of his death. evel knievel was such a marker in our childhood. he was a total badass. we would do tricks on our bikes to mimic his, but we did them in sears toughskins.

We did that too - around the roots of the trees in my sister's yard, round & round till there was no grass left. I like what his promoter said "Superman just doesn't die, right?".

My brother had an Evel Kneivel doll (SORRY, ummm -- ACTION FIGURE), and we played with him (and Barbie) often. I'm sorry to hear that he's gone.... there was just something about him in our newspaper yesterday........I've gotta call my bro now.

That's sad; I didn't know. I remember him too.

I'm so with you on this one - I was the lad in the toughskins with the iron-on knee patches. God's speed Evil.

I remember Sears Toughskins. I thought they were only for boys.
