the summer allstars in the garden have been the bougainvilleas. they laugh at drought much like mufasa laughs in the face of danger. my beloved roses? they are crying in a corner waiting until october or november.
not only did the bougies survive this horrid drought, they survived our harsh winter. i trimmed them all to the ground midfebruary as i was trimming back the roses to ready for spring bloom.
bougainvillea makes beautiful bouquets that last even longer than roses. note to self: plant more in the spring.
